I’ve done it. I’ve done it. Let’s back up. Hello, I’m Ryan. I’m a mechanic at Boston Square Community Bikes. I work the Monday and Saturday shifts. I’ve included a photo to get ourselves more acquainted. I’m the bigger one. The one on the right.
I would like to walk you through my latest build. It’s no secret that Boston Square is a great (cheap) place to build up bikes. It’s also a great place to meet others, help others, learn from others; the list just goes on. I’m going to be putting together some videos that hopefully somebody finds useful but also show my latest acquisition. Jo also got a new bike. That’s him on the right. Tom, is on the left.So I hope to have you follow my progress with the new bike. Here’s the right now.
But very soon I’m going to strip it and clean it up. It is dirty. I will be posting reviews and trying some new things out. I’m planning on upgrading certain components to more modern version, don’t tell Jo. I’m even thinking of adding carbon fiber…shhhh. REALLY, don’t tell Jo. 1970 all steel beauty Fuji with carbon? What! Personally I don’t love cottered cranks. You might, I don’t. They are out. I’m thinking a modern stem and handlebars so the bars are a little large diameter for better ergonomics. We’ll see. Plus did you notice the hand built velocity rims? Support your local people right? Lastly the color. Gorgeous. Love it. couple of scrapes and I may do a couple of light touch-ups but I love orange. Not till I got older did I have a favorite color but now that I’m older and wiser…orange is clearly the best. Stop into the shop and talk to me about this or if you need help with your next project I’d love to work with you.
See you soon.
